October 7th 2012 - later than usual, and coinciding with Harvest Festival -
The seventh Chidbrook Trophy cricket match between Chidham and Hambrook.
Played in the best spirit of the game, father and son batting together, teams included father and daughter, even, briefly super sub mother and daughter. Thanks to Cliff for umpiring, Nina for scoring and to Sandra for a great tea. Thanks also to the captains, Gareth (Hambrook) and Keith (Chidham) and their teams. We were very lucky to be able to play - so much rain about, and a very soft pitch. Father Paul Matthews and Zena came to watch their first Chidbrook trophy match. Fortunately the rain stayed away - someone up there smiled on us - just a coincidence? Thanks to everyone for coming to support the teams.
Chidham batted first. In a well contested match Chidham won by 18 runs, but it is still 4:3 to Hambrook overall.
