Sunday April 17

Following the 10am service there was a reception with pre lunch drinks and canapés in the Vicarage and Gardens to mark the retirement of Harry Bates (after 21 years ) and Carole Holmes (after 6 years) as Church Wardens.

They have been exceptional Church Wardens. The current congregation and the community, as well as the generations to come have much to thank them for.
Carole cuts the cake. Harry looks on.
(I don't think that is quite how it worked all the time.... .)

Rod Starr
Sunday Sept 20th 2015 was Rod's last day as our organist. We wish him all the very best for the future.
Rod contributed much to the life of the Church and its music. We will remember him for his friendship, generosity and good humour.

The members of the 'Occasional Choir' will always be grateful for his patience and enthusiasm. Singing wonderful choral music was an experience for all of us, and without Rod there would have been no 'Occasional choir'.

The 10am Church service was full, and afterwards we had a gathering in the Vicarage garden , and there was cake.....

The Stones of Chidham Church - Illustrated Geology by David Bone
The walls of St Mary's are made from a variety of stones, including Bognor rock, Bembridge Rock, Downland flints, Roman brick and high quality Caen stone. David Bone pointed out many things the casual observer might never notice and explained how the materials for the Church were procured, and why.

Afterwards we enjoyed an excellent tea in the Vicarage gardens.
The total raised for the Church over the two Sundays doing afternoon teas was £385.18
