Christmas in St Mary's
The Crib service was particularly popular. Almost a case of 'no room in the inn'.
The occasional choir sang at the candlelit Midnight Mass, and at 10am on Christmas Day Father Paul retold the Christmas story in chocolate.
Dec 22. Carols in the Old House at Home on Sunday Evening. Everybody enjoyed singing their favourite Christmas carols and the remnants of the occasional choir also sang two carols.
Money was raised for church funds.

Thanks to John and Jane Huetson, Robin Yeld, Father Paul and Rod Starr for arranging the event.

Fly tipping in the Church car park.
On Friday or Saturday July 12/13 someone dumped (probably after dark) a lorry load of garden rubbish - vegetation, pots, bricks etc in the car park of St Wilfrid's.
This is fly tipping. It is illegal. The fly tipper is breaking the law. Did you see anything suspicious? Have you had someone do some garden clearance for you who might have been the tipper?

Hunger is the world's most shocking problem and our toughest challenge. One in eight people on this planet lives with the pain of hunger.
IF we act together we can provide enough food for everyone.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby was in Chichester on Tuesday (March 19th), the last stop before his enthronement in Canterbury on Thursday March 21st.
Alyzn Johnson saw him coming and was there with Holly Sabin and Jude from Christian Aid, together with a couple of lookalike Budget Red Boxes to lobby on behalf of the Christian Aid IF campaign. The Archbishop seemed very happy to be lobbied and held Alyzn's Red Box for the photographs.

St Mary's Church
Something different this Sunday. Posted Mar 12
'Have you ever wondered why I do or say certain things during a communion service? If so come along to St Mary's this Sunday at 10:00am when I shall preside at a commentated Eucharist giving some explanation of what it's about. Look forward to seeing you there. Fr Paul '
Mothering Sunday - March 10th
Volunteers brought flowers and greenery from their gardens to St Wilfrid's to make posies for Mothering Sunday.
In addition the Harbour Conservancy had kindly given their permission for daffodils to be picked in Maybush Copse and donated to the Church for the posies.

Thanks to Delph Archer and all the volunteers who helped.
We had a lovely family communion. The Gospel, the parable of the prodigal son, with contributions from some of our young people was a highlight. After the service the posies were distributed to the mothers in the congregation.

Jan 19th. The first snow of the winter. A great chance for some winter sports!
Not so good if you get an unexpected visit from the Bishop who wants to see what you have been doing in your new parish.
Funny thing about the Bishop. He's very nervous about his headgear - wouldn't he look silly if his mitre fell off! As a result he always has to have someone with him to make sure the worst doesn't happen.

All Saints and All Souls

A candle to mark these feasts, and a seasonal pumpkin carved and illuminated with a cross.
Ride and stride a splendid result. Thank you to all those who took part in the sponsored Ride and Stride this year - and to their generous sponsors. You raised the really impressive sum of £340. This is split 50/50 between St Mary's and the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. If you missed this enjoyable way of raising funds for St Mary's and the Trust, don't worry – you will have another chance next year: Second Saturday in September - put this in your Diary now! You can either visit as many local churches as you wish on bike, foot or horse or sit in St Mary's porch and record the visitors.
Dates for the Christmas Choir rehearsals:
The first rehearsal is next Thursday (Nov 8th ) in St Mary's at 7pm (until 8 pm.) and then the following Thursdays ie November 8th., 15th., 22nd., 29th., and December 6th. & 13th . The Carol Service is on Dec 16
